It is obvious that the scheme was a successful venture as Staff who had applied happily collected their new Laptops while some who did not were already speaking of the next round of applications.</p> <p>As a way of announcement, if you applied for a Laptop, please contact the persons involved and get yours.</p> <p>I believe that this will not only increase the computer density but also the productivity of the University of Jos academic community.</p> <p>Surely as Mrs. Opara has said, a great opportunity is now available for University Staff to empower themselves with the latest in laptop technology and increase individual productivity by leveraging the freely available technology that the administration has deployed to support learning, communication and administration within the community.</p> <p>We will point you to the various useful technology tools that are freely available on the Unijos network so you can fully utilize your new laptop.</p> <p>Dr Orshi caught on a mobile as she collects her Laptop</p> <p><img src="http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y269/Avese/th_Photo-0022.jpg" /></p> <p>This website will be main source of technical support and any post-sales activity. VICE CHANCELLOR APPROVES NEW LOW INTEREST RATE LOAN FOR LAPTOP ACQUISITION SCHEME">1 Comment</a> </div> <div class="post-content"> <p>As part of a series of events geared at increasing the computer density and productivity of the University of Jos academic community, the Vice Chancellor, Professor S.G. Tyoden, last week authorized the approval of a low interest university loan to facilitate the acquisition of wireless enabled laptops for senior staff of the university. After a review of the existing scheme where the loan was being funded by a bank, Professor Tyoden decided that replacing the source of funds with a university loan would better serve the interests of the staff and the university.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify">As the university’s systems have become increasingly driven by network technology, the need for mobile network-ready devices which are less reliant on generated electricity has never been greater. Laptops obtained from the scheme would attract interest of 2.5% only without extra charges; this differs from the original source of funds where the best bank rates obtainable were in higher two-digits. This move by the university of Jos administration adds to the purchase discounts secured by the scheme which already provide savings of over NGN 20,000 per laptop.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify">In a statement, Mrs E. Opara, Deputy Bursar, University of Jos thanked the Vice Chancellor for the loan scheme initiative and his forward thinking gesture of making loans available at such low interest rate.
